Julie Maddock – Lincs Dobermann Rescue

Julie has faced an endless stream of Dogs that have had little or no training. These dogs usually struggle to understand how they fit into our world, they are confused, bored and full of energy. The outcome of this combination is usually a host of undesirable behaviours.
Mostly I have worked with Julie to implement strategies that relieve boredom, burn off some energy and create some behaviours that will help them not only be adopted but remain successful in their new homes.
Mostly this has involved play! Getting dogs to learn while they play reduces stress for everyone and often the dogs learn much quicker because you can get more reps in than you can if you use food all the time!
I’ve known Brad since I became a foster carer for Lincs Dobermann rescue in 2020. Right from the start Brad, as a challenging rescue Dobie owner himself, was supportive of my quest to help the Dobies, some of them with difficult behaviours (bite history and guarding tendencies). Since I became the Dog Trustee for the rescue in 2021 he has:
· successfully helped several of our adopters to settle some of the more challenging Dobies into their adopted homes,
· successfully helped to keep dogs in homes after owners, who had been failed by other canine professionals, had reached a point of surrendering their dog to our rescue.
· and he continues to guide me on resolving behavioural issues.
Brads in depth understanding of canine behaviour and learning theory sets him apart from other trainers and behaviourists I have worked with; I would recommend him to anyone and will certainly continue to recommend him to our Dobie adopters.
